We might assume it to be self-evident, given that the self-evident is often overlooked, much like the cliché, which is rarely spoken of, let alone written down. The self-evident is a serious matter. It calls for an honest gaze that honours the moment.

The nature of reality, as authentic presence, is a conscious choice to signal the existential self-evident. A reflection that requires non-judgement. The importance of simply Being – Seeing reality as it is.

A work, painting or drawing, as an object, has a finite temporal cycle as physical matter. Once it existed without being, of a mutable nature, it metamorphosed in its communion and connection between movements, substances and materials, generating the infinite and timeless individuality where it IS.

Its physical characteristics, the material, are altered in the creative act. The paint transforms – from liquid to solid; the thickened pigment dissolves; the scratcher becomes a loose stroke in the mission of the one who acts, surpassing itself, transcending its original condition and rising to non-object Being. In the superimposition of these physical natures, the record of timelessness is enshrined. The purity of the act is intimately linked to lived and manifested ethics. This vibration transforms the line, the brushstroke, into a visible mark or symbol where that which Is is born.

Matter is debatable in its physicality depending on the quantum zoom we use as our point of analysis. Its ‘three-dimensional’ body and vibrational frequency change according to its harmonious composition. Its condition is changeable, yet free from the artificial and the discordant. Only the authentic resonates with truth. They are One. The same. What a celebration!

Quantum physics, spirituality, art and philosophy are layers of the same consciousness. Interconnection and uncertainty accompany the work not only in the subatomic world, but also in our understanding of it at macroscopic and personal levels. The way the mind perceives reality has a fundamental impact on how the work is processed in our eyes. What is certain is that it is always what it is and does not change in the presence of another who encounters it. The interconnection of all things and the illusory nature of reality may offer other perceptions, yet reality remains.

Abstraction possesses the freedom and independence of thought, words and forms, with disparate and diverse concepts that enable me to construct the intellectual reality I present to you. Author. In its genesis, there is no gender. The whole is non-binary. It is a sacred whole.

Passivity has no place in the equation. Contemplation and the fluidity of understanding nature as it unfolds before our eyes are part of grasping the process of becoming. Ethical, spiritual and physical action are the guiding forces behind the solution, and it is in the final work that the true state manifests itself. “Being in the world” in an authentic way.

The work takes on an eternal presence, free from the unease of finitude or non-existence. It is, and will always be, from the moment it is completed and presented to the world. It is a magical moment.

Things have an essence that defines them and makes them what they are, and they possess a real and concrete existence in the world. Such is painting. It goes beyond superficial appearance and is the true essence. It has moved from the world of ideas to the world of forms. Stains, colours and lines that touch the subtle world materialise in the concrete world and seek the unaltered essence. A presence that transcends time and space. It returns to the Word without ever having been before.

As in the Beginning.
